Monster Hunter Wilds Releases in a Crowded February 2025

Monster Hunter Wilds Launches on February 28, 2025

Monster Hunter fans will be pleased to know that Monster Hunter Wilds has been confirmed for a release date of February 28, 2025, which is just around the corner. However, while sooner is better, it’s launching in one of the most stacked months in gaming in quite some time, not necessarily due to the quantity of games but the quantity of highly anticipated games. Titles like Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, Civilization 7, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Avowed, and Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii will all be vying for the attention of gamers in February 2025, potentially giving Monster Hunter Wilds a run for its money.

Monster Hunter Wilds Innovates the Formula of Its Predecessors

Monster Hunter Wilds is without a doubt one of the most ambitious Monster Hunter games ever made, as it is somewhat uprooting several of the franchise’s biggest traditions for a fresh Monster Hunter experience that aims to appeal to both veterans and newcomers. Most prominently is its protagonist, who is fully voiced for the first time in a mainline Monster Hunter game in Monster Hunter Wilds. The game also introduces a dynamic open world with weather patterns that can significantly influence monster behavior and hunting strategies.

Monster Hunter Wilds‘ new Seikret mount doesn’t mark the first time a Monster Hunter game has featured a mount, but it is the first time a mount has given players the ability to carry a secondary weapon. New combat mechanics like Monster Hunter Wilds‘ Focus Mode have also been incorporated into the game, and since Monster Hunter has largely always been about its combat, mechanics such as this are big game-changers. Finally, as is the case with any new Monster Hunter game, Monster Hunter Wilds will be introducing new monsters like The White Wraith, The Black Flame, Uth Duna, Rey Dau, and many more.

Monster Hunter Wilds Will Receive Post-Launch Support

Three DLC Packs for Monster Hunter Wilds Will Be Released by Summer 2025

As far as Monster Hunter Wilds‘ post-launch content goes, Capcom has already confirmed three DLC packs coming to the game that will be released by summer 2025. With the Cosmetic DLC Pass included in Monster Hunter Wilds‘ Premium Deluxe Edition, players can obtain these three DLC packs and the cosmetic items they will offer, though it’s unclear yet what those items will be.

Monster Hunter Wilds May Collaborate With Other Franchises in 2025

Beyond the cosmetic DLC for Monster Hunter Wilds, Capcom hasn’t officially laid out plans for other post-launch content, though there are some expectations given the franchise’s history. Monster Hunter has been known to collaborate with other franchises in the past, featuring armor sets that take on the appearance of popular characters in gaming, and Monster Hunter Wilds may do the same. Apart from that, it’s possible players could see new monsters, environments, and quests added to the game at a later date, as is tradition with Monster Hunter.

As Monster Hunter Wilds draws ever nearer, anticipation for its release will likely increase exponentially within the next month. With its dynamic open world, new monsters, innovative gameplay mechanics, and the potential for plenty of post-launch content ahead of it, Monster Hunter Wilds looks set for a big year in 2025, in spite of the numerous games it shares a launch window with.
