NEW DELHI: 6th June 2025: India is poised to attract more than Rs 8,000 crore in new investments across the energy storage, electric vehicle (EV), and green hydrogen sectors during the upcoming India Energy Storage Week (IESW) 2025, according to projections by the India Energy Storage Alliance (IESA). The 11th edition of the flagship event will be held in New Delhi from July 8 to 10 at the Yashobhoomi Convention and Expo Centre.

The event, which is being organised by IESA, India’s leading trade association for energy storage and advanced battery technologies, takes place as the nation rapidly expands its capacity for clean energy innovation and production.

It is anticipated that IESW 2025 will provide a forum for the announcement of gigafactories and factories, new business agreements, and memorandum of understanding that could turn India into a major hub for the production of next-generation energy technologies worldwide.

Debmalya Sen, President of IESA, stated that this year’s IESW is a historic occasion rather than merely another industry conference. “We have created specific tracks for manufacturing, e-mobility, stationary storage, and green hydrogen. The occasion will strengthen our clean energy supply chain’s resilience while facilitating strategic alliances and the expansion of domestic manufacturing.

    Global Participation and State Partnerships
It is anticipated that international representatives from more than nine nations will take part, including the US, Germany, France, the UK, Israel, Korea, and Australia. High-ranking representatives from several Indian ministries and state administrations will accompany these delegations; state partners Gujarat, Telangana, Odisha, and Chhattisgarh have been confirmed.

Key sectoral investments and technological partnerships have been made possible by the IESW platform in the past, and organisers anticipate that this year’s announcement volume and investment inflow will hit all-time highs.

Vinayak Walimbe, Managing Director at Customised Energy Solutions, stated that the forthcoming India Energy Storage Week 2025 is expected to revolutionise the country’s energy industry. “We expect a huge increase in both foreign and domestic investments, making this edition a crucial turning point for the nation’s energy transition.”

Startups, Innovation, and the $500 Million Bet

By pointing out that 6,600 cleantech startups currently operate in 450 districts across 34 states and union territories, IESA also emphasised the growth of India’s cleantech startup ecosystem. Over the next 12 months, the alliance anticipates that $500 million in investments will be made in Indian battery and mobility startups alone.

At IESW 2025, this robust innovation pipeline will be the main focus. The event is expected to present new chemistries like solid-state batteries, lithium-sulfur, sodium-ion, and next-generation energy storage platforms in addition to traditional battery technologies and thermal storage systems.

It is anticipated that more than 150 exhibitors and more than 1,000 businesses will present solutions, close agreements, and talk about the technological and policy roadmaps that will shape India’s clean energy future over the next ten years.

A Platform for Gigafactories and Manufacturing Announcements
India is expected to announce several factories and gigafactories at IESW, expanding the nation’s capacity in battery cell production, module assembly, and integrated energy storage systems as it aims to become a global manufacturing powerhouse for advanced energy solutions.

Sen continued, “India requires a scalable and diverse energy storage ecosystem.” “To address this need, IESW will bring together stakeholders from across the value chain, from supply chain security and advanced manufacturing to the localisation of raw materials.”

With the support of numerous ministries and both public and private stakeholders, IESW 2025 is expected to be the most important energy sector gathering in the nation this year. It indicates a strong push by the government and industry to establish India as a global supplier of clean energy solutions in addition to being a significant consumer.

Everyone will be watching New Delhi in July to see how India transforms policy ambition into industrial action as the global clean energy race heats up.
