The OnePlus 16 made its debut in China recently and the phone may be heading to India soon. A new leak has just claimed that the company held a meeting in Mumbai for the launch. Read on to know what’s happening.
OnePlus 16 India Launch May Happen Soon
In a post on X, well-known tipster Abhishek Yadav claimed that OnePlus recently held a meeting in Mumbai regarding the OnePlus 16’s India launch. He also said that the phone is currently being tested privately, behind closed doors.

Yadav has not shared further details about the meeting or the testing process. However, the reported development suggests that OnePlus could be evaluating its plans to bring the upcoming flagship to India.
OnePlus has not officially confirmed the India launch or shared any details about the phone’s availability in the country. So, for now, the news of the reported meeting and private testing should be taken with a pinch of salt.
OnePlus 16: What To Expect
The OnePlus 16 could bring some significant upgrades over its predecessor. The phone is expected to feature a 6.78-inch LTPO AMOLED display with a refresh rate of up to 185Hz and peak brightness of 2,000 nits.
Under the hood, it is tipped to use Qualcomm’s next-generation Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset, reportedly built on a 2nm process. The phone could also feature dedicated gaming components, including a P4 display chip, a G3 eSports chip and a T3 touch-response chip. These are expected to help improve gaming performance and touch response.
The battery could be another major highlight. The OnePlus 16 is rumoured to pack a large 9,000mAh battery with support for 100W wired and 50W wireless charging. This would be a notable increase over the 7,300mAh battery mentioned for the previous model.
In terms of photography, the smartphone is expected to feature a triple rear camera setup with a 200MP primary sensor, a 50MP telephoto camera offering 3x optical zoom and a 50MP ultrawide camera. On the front, it could get a 50MP selfie camera.
Other expected features include Oppo’s Crystal Shield Glass for display protection, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0 and USB Type-C 3.2 connectivity.
