When considering Marvel SNAP’s recent meta, Blob might not be the first card that comes to mind. This once-dominant card saw massive success at launch before being swiftly nerfed. Yet, despite his fall from glory, Blob can still hold his own in Marvel SNAP’s ever-evolving metagame—you just need to place him in the right deck, which we’ve found!

The Best Deck for Blob
Blob is a perfect powerhouse for a Thanos deck. For a consistent performance, have the duo of Blob and Thanos team up with the following cards: Vision, Alioth, Skaar, Psylocke, Caiera, Jeff, Shang-Chi, Cull Obsidian, Black Swan, and Hope Summers.

Blob Deck Synergies
- Thanos and Blob are your win conditions. Use Thanos’s Stones to build him up while keeping Blob for an end-game surprise attack. (Thanos shuffling six Stones into your deck makes it likelier for you to absorb big cards with Blob.)
- Big cards like Skaar, Obsidian, and even Vision are Blob feeders. But if you draw them, you can still leverage their Power with the help of Psylocke and Hope Summers, who give you extra Energy.
- Black Swan is a key Energy management card. You drop her on the board and wait until you draw a couple of Thanos Stones. Then you activate her Power and turn all those Stones into free drops!
- Caiera, Shang-Chi, and Alioth are your tech cards. Alioth is also a suitable feeder for Blob.
How to Counter Blob
Blob is easy to counter, which is likely why he isn’t a major force in the meta. Since opponents usually hold onto Blob in hand, Leech is one of the best ways to shut him down. But if you want to prevent him from ever dominating the board, Shadow King and Shang-Chi are solid alternatives.
Shadow King wipes Blob’s absorbed Power, reducing him to a six-Cost, zero-Power card—a devastating setback for your opponent. Shang-Chi, meanwhile, outright destroys Blob and any other card with 10+ Power. If you have priority and can predict Blob’s placement, you can also stop him with Alioth or Cosmo.
The Past, Present, and Future of Blob
Blob Change Timeline
- Blob started as a 6-Cost, 4-Power On Reveal and Ongoing.
- Blob’s Power was nerfed to 0, and his absorption ability was limited to 15. In exchange, his restrictive Ongoing ability was removed.
- Blob’s Power absorption limit was reduced to 13.
Blob was one of the biggest releases of 2023, a card that was rightfully called a meta-breaker. But soon after its launch, the devs realized their mistake and hit him with a noticeable nerf. Blob, who could absorb all deck cards’ Power with no cap, was given a limit of 15—or more.
The way Blob’s nerf worked was that he would stop eating cards from the deck chronologically until he got 15 Power. The catch was that if the first card he ate had, say, 10 Power and the second had 20, he’d still grow into a 30-Power giant. But if the first card had 10 Power and the second had 5, Blob would be satisfied with the 15 Power and stop merging. In short, his Power became more RNG-based.
After the initial nerf, SNAP devs figured Blob is still unstoppable and carries the potential to break the meta. So, in a precautionary attempt, they decreased Blob’s Power absorption limit to 13 (from 15). In exchange, they removed his Ongoing ability, which stopped him from being moved.
It’s been a while since Blob has been reworked. And the future of SNAP’s metagame doesn’t look threatening for this once-feared character. Blob will most likely remain the card it is today, and it’s hard to imagine any nerfs or buffs in the near future.
