May 15, 2025: Nitin Gadkari, India’s Union Minister for Transport and Shipping, emphasised the country’s commitment to building a sustainable, resilient, and future-oriented transport infrastructure at the BRICS Transport Ministers meeting in Brazil
During discussions on developing an integrated transport system that promotes inclusive growth and improves regional connectivity, Gadkari informed global transport ministers about the Government of India’s various initiatives, such as PM GatiShakti, the National Logistics Policy, Bharatmala, and Sagarmala.
At the summit, he elaborated on India’s focus on transformative infrastructure initiatives, reaffirming the country’s commitment to creating a modern and sustainable transport ecosystem that is consistent with global development goals.

He shared his experience on the networking platform X, saying, “I am honoured to represent India at the BRICS Transport Ministers’ Meeting in Brasilia, where I shared India’s vision for sustainable, resilient, and multimodal transport infrastructure with global partners.”
The BRICS grouping, which includes Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, comprises some of the world’s largest emerging economies, accounting for 41% of global population, 24% of global GDP, and more than 16% of global trade.
BRICS plays an important role in promoting global economic growth and has actively addressed critical issues such as political and security concerns, economic and financial concerns, as well as cultural and people-to-people interactions.
Gadkari stated that India is increasingly influencing global transport and logistics policies, in line with its vision of becoming a global logistics hub and a leader in sustainable infrastructure development.
