    Key Takeaways

    • A Halloween episode needs to be included in Wednesday season 2 for a spooky and fun twist.
    • Episode 4 of Wednesday season 1 was a standout moment featuring a great dance scene with The Cramps song.
    • Having fewer episodes in Wednesday season 2 can help maintain quality and keep audiences engaged.

As someone who grew up in the ’90s and always found the Addams Family to be charming, quirky, and fun, I was excited to watch Wednesday season 1 on Netflix. The TV series was instantly popular when it premiered in November 2022 and fans enjoyed seeing Tim Burton’s fantastic direction and Jenna Ortega’s engaging performance as Wednesday Addams. While Wednesday is a dark, sarcastic Goth teenager who doesn’t enjoy the things that typical high schoolers do, Ortega brings her to life and makes her relatable.

Like other viewers, I’m looking forward to Wednesday season 2 and am curious about how the season will look now that Ortega is a producer. I also have an idea for a great Wednesday season 2 episode that would make the Netflix show’s return even more exciting.

Wednesday Season 2 Needs A Halloween Episode

Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Addams in Wednesday

Since Wednesday Addams is a famous Goth character who evokes all things creepy, it would make sense for Wednesday season 2 to have an episode about Halloween. While there are many great Halloween episodes of animated shows like Bob’s Burgers and other sitcoms, it’s also fun to see a drama take on this time of year.

If Wednesday season 2 had an episode set on October 31st, it could go in many different directions. There could be another school dance, this time with a fun costume contest. There could also be a storyline where the Nevermore Academy students trick-or-treat on school grounds, which could be a chance for Wednesday to try to guess who her stalker is. It’s easy to imagine the students and teachers getting excited about All Hallows Eve. While they might not be as dark and sarcastic as Ortega’s character, the werewolves and vampires who attend the boarding school likely enjoy this time of year.

Wednesday season 2’s Halloween episode would look great since Nevermore could be decorated with spiders and ghosts, the students could bob for apples, and Wednesday could decorate a particularly dark and eerie-looking pumpkin. Since the new season could fit more into the horror genre, why not make it look even spookier? There could also be smart and funny jokes about how Wednesday looks like she’s wearing a Halloween costume every day, but now is the time for her dark fashion sense to really shine.

What Are Some Fun Halloween Episodes Of Other TV Shows?

    • Supernatural, “It’s The Great Pumpkin, Sam Winchester” (season 4, episode 7)
    • Single Parents, “Welcome to Hell, Sickos!” (season 2, episode 6)
    • Goosebumps, “The Haunted Mask” (season 1, episode 1)
    • Friends, “The One With The Halloween Party” (season 8, episode 6)
    • Buffy The Vampire Slayer, “Halloween” (season 2, episode 6)
    • Are You Afraid Of The Dark? “The Tale of the Midnight Ride” (season 3, episode 1)

A Halloween episode would also be a good idea since the Addams Family has celebrated this holiday before. In the 1991 movie The Addams Family, Wednesday’s costume is unique and perfectly her. While there are funny quotes in Wednesday season 1, this classic line is just as memorable, and perhaps the character could make other jokes like this in the second season. In this beloved movie, Wednesday says:

“This is my costume. I’m a homicidal maniac. They look just like everybody else.” –

What Was A Memorable Episode Of Wednesday Season 1?

Lucas Walker and Enid Sinclair at the Rave'n Dance

I think the best episode of Wednesday season 1 was episode 4, “Woe What A Night.” Ortega did a great job dancing to The Cramps song “Goo Goo Muck” and, hopefully, Wednesday season 2 will have another fun viral moment. While the school dance has been a classic young adult media trope, it was used perfectly here.

This episode is so enjoyable because no one would expect Wednesday Addams to attend a school dance. While some might say that this doesn’t fit with her iconic Addams Family characters, others like that she joins in with her Nevermore Academy classmates. She does things her way, including this creepy and entertaining dance. This is such an important moment since it cements Wednesday as a member of her new community and helps her feel like she finally fits in somewhere. Even though she doesn’t really care if people understand her or like her, it’s clear that she does want her time at Nevermore to go somewhat smoothly.

In a November 2022 interview with Vulture, Ortega talked about her dance scene. She said:

“I just pulled inspiration from videos of goth kids dancing in clubs in the ’80s. “Lene Lovich music videos, Siouxsie and the Banshees performances, and Fosse… I feel like I gained a new level of respect for that line of work.”
