KOLKATTA 8th May 2025: Tata Motors has announced the opening of its eighth registered vehicle scrapping facility in Kolkata, bringing the total capacity to recycle 130,000 vehicles.
The Kolkata facility, known as ‘Re.Wi.Re;Recycle with Respect,’ collaborates with Tata Motors’ partner, Selladale Synergies India, to dismantle 21,000 end-of-life vehicles across multiple categories each year.

The facility is completely digital, with paperless processes and dismantling methods specific to each vehicle type. It has designated areas for the safe dismantling of components like tyres, batteries, fuels, oils, and other materials, all in accordance with India’s vehicle scrappage policy.
Snehasis Chakraborty, the Minister of Transport for the Government of West Bengal, presided over the inauguration, emphasising that this initiative would aid in the transition to newer, safer, and more energy-efficient vehicles while also fostering circular economy opportunities in the transportation sector.
According to Rajesh Kaul, Vice President and Business Head of Trucks at Tata Motors Commercial Vehicles, with the combined capacity to dismantle over 130,000 vehicles per year across eight Tata Motors Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facilities, the company is proud to lead the transformation of India’s vehicle scrapping ecosystem, with an emphasis on safety, compliance, and sustainability.
The remaining seven Re.Wi.Re facilities are strategically placed in Jaipur, Bhubaneswar, Surat, Chandigarh, Delhi NCR, Pune, and Guwahati, forming a national network for sustainable vehicle recycling.
