A Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen player shared the impressive Ninetales in their team, which is particularly special for its appearance and Nature. However, the player didn’t know this, and a friend told them to share their special catch with the Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen community.
Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen are the Game Boy Advance-era remakes of Pokemon Red and Blue. Plenty of gamers are checking out or revisiting Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen following their release on the Nintendo Switch, which landed on Pokemon Day. Though they’re remakes of Gen 1 games, they launched during the Gen 3 era, which means that the Pokemon caught there have Natures, unlike their original Pokemon Red and Blue counterparts. That particular detail came into play when an excellent Vulpix was created by the game and subsequently caught.

Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen have two secret “version exclusives” that can make playthroughs on one version much less enjoyable.
Pokemon Fan Gets a Nearly Perfect Ninetales
On Reddit, Pokemon fan Vakylir32 revealed that they had caught a Vulpix, which they had since evolved into a Ninetales, which their friend thought was particularly rare, and suggested that they share it on the site. A screenshot from the game reveals that they captured a female Vulpix while exploring the Pokemon Mansion. What sets it apart, however, is the fact that the now-evolved Ninetales is both Shiny and has a Modest Nature. It seems that the player themselves didn’t know that their new Ninetales was particularly special, but the fanbase has stepped up to make it clear to them.

Plenty of players have shared comments, and the overall upvote count on the post is over 4,000 as of publication time, likely indicating that most agree that it’s a rare find. Gamers were, of course, excited to see that the Ninetales was Shiny, but players seemed to be even more impressed by the fact that it had a Modest Nature. For the unfamiliar, Natures in Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen have both positive and negative effects on a Pokemon’s stats, improving one stat by 10% and reducing another by 10%. In this Ninetales’ case, its Modest Nature boosts its Special Attack and reduces its Attack stat. As a Fire-type Pokemon, the effectiveness and power of many of Ninetales’ attacks are based upon its Special Attack stat, including Fire Blast, Fire Spin, and Inferno. On top of that, Ninetales inherently has a fairly high Special Attack stat, so boosting it further means this will be a hard-hitting Pokemon.
Many gamers congratulated the player on their new catch, with many admiring the fact that it was both Shiny and Modest Nature. Some suggested that it’s arguably not the rarest Ninetales that one could have, as it’s a female, and the Pokemon has a 25%/75% ratio of male and female, respectively. Additionally, some suggested that a Timid Nature might actually be a bit better, which would boost Speed and reduce Attack. Ninetales is already a very speedy Pokemon, with a base Speed of 100, so a Timid Nature would help it to get the first attack against more opponents. Nonetheless, there are plenty of players who would love to have this particular Ninetales on their own team.
Although it’s a rare find to be sure, it’s not the rarest Pokemon that one can find in Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen. One player had both good and terrible luck in the game, revealing that they came across a Shiny Marowak in Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen. The problem, however, is that the Shiny Pokemon was none other than the ghost haunting Lavender Town’s Pokemon Tower. While having the ghost revealed to be a Shiny Marowak is indeed extremely rare, it also can’t be caught by any means, so unlike the lucky Ninetales trainer, this player left the encounter empty-handed.
