National, February 15, 2025: Ather Energy Limited, a manufacturer of electric two-wheelers in India, has announced a partnership with ChargeMOD, a charge point operator (CPO) in Kerala. This collaboration gives EV owners with the LECCS (Light Electric Combined Charging System) connector access to 121 more charging locations across Kerala.
Ather Energy was the first two-wheeler OEM to establish a two-wheeler fast charging network in India in 2018. The Ather Grid is India’s widest two-wheeler fast charging network. As of 31st December 2024, Ather had 291 Ather Grid fast chargers in Kerala. In addition, Ather has also remained the market leader in Kerala over the last two quarters (August to January), recording over 10,000 sales, as per data from Vahaan.
With the aim of making EV ownership hassle-free, Ather’s partnership with ChargeMOD further strengthens the company’s charging network in the region. An Energy Service company, ChargeMOD provides EV charging solutions, giving EV owners access to over 3500 EV charging stations across India, Nepal, and Abu Dhabi.
Ravneet Singh Phokela, Chief Business Officer, Ather Energy, said, “Since the very beginning, we have focused on establishing a nationwide charging network, and have believed that OEMs should collaborate with CPOs (Charging Point Operators) to expand the charging network in the country. The standardisation of the LECCS connector as the type 7 connector, further supports this collaboration. Ather’s partnership with ChargeMOD is another step in the direction. We believe, working with Charge Point Operators (CPOs), will help enhance the charging network and make it more accessible to EV owners.”
Visakh Raj, Founder, ChargeMOD, said, “Our partnership with Ather Energy is a testament to our shared vision of creating a robust EV Charging infrastructure. By combining our extensive network with Ather’s advanced charging technology on LECCS, we are setting a new standard for LEV infrastructure in the country. This collaboration will not only benefit Ather customers but also all electric two-wheeler users, making EV adoption more practical and convenient thereby aligning with Government of India’s ambitious vision for a cleaner environment by 2030.”
Previously, Ather Energy Limited has also partnered with companies such as Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, Sangeetha Mobiles Private Limited and Cafe Coffee Day Global Limited to install Ather grid fast chargers across various locations. In FY 2025 (April-December), Ather added 799 fast chargers to its charging network and as of 31st December 2024, Ather had 2583 fast chargers in India. The company’s charging infrastructure also supports interoperability through the LECCS (Light Electric Combined Charging System) standard, which was published as an Indian standard in August 2023, thus promoting wider accessibility of charging infrastructure for all EVs with the LECCS connector.
