Resident Evil Requiem features a unique challenge and achievement called “Never Touch the Stuff”, which requires you to beat the entire game without healing even once. The specifics of the challenge are to never use a Green Herb or a Med Injector, but this is far easier than you might think, and here’s why.
Never Touch the Stuff can be countered on easier difficulties and with Steroids, and we have an additional set of tips that will make your completion of the challenge far easier than you initially expected. You can even combine this with the Speed Demon challenge to maximize your gains!
All Weapon Upgrades in Resident Evil Requiem
Every weapon and upgrade in Resident Evil Requiem can be found here, so you can see the raw numbers and costs to make the best weapons work.
If you accidentally use a Med Injector or a Green Herb simply because of muscle memory, then don’t worry. Restart from a previous save file before the incident so that the challenge doesn’t cancel itself.
Play on Casual Mode to Take Less Damage & Auto-Heal
Heal to Yellow and Experience Less Challenge on an Easier Difficulty
All challenges actually work in Casual Mode, meaning you won’t be required to play the game in Standard or Insanity just to get those Challenge Points and achievements that you seek. Therefore, the best advice we can give for the “Never Touch the Stuff” achievement and challenge is to simply lower the difficulty.
Casual Mode has everything you’d need to win with ease. Aim assist, enemies deal less damage, their attacks are less frequent, and the auto-save feature is plentiful to allow you breathing room if you’re low on health. The best part comes from the fact that Casual Mode has an auto-heal feature when you’re weak, and you’ll always heal back to half health.
Steroids Can Be Crafted as Permanent Upgrades to Health Without Breaking the Challenge
Grace can venture into the Parlor in the West Wing of the Care Center to find an assortment of upgrades that require Antique Coins. One of the more important upgrades is that of the Steroids, which acts as a way to permanently increase Grace’s maximum health.
Players should be spending their Blood and Empty Injectors on Steroids for Grace, as not only will this give a buff to their health, but it will actually fully heal them when used and not break the challenge requirements. Grace is far more likely to get injured than Leon due to her focus on survival over action, so a stack of Steroids for when you’re in trouble really helps.
Unfortunately for Leon, he has no way to upgrade his health to counter the loss of Green Herbs and Med Injectors. However, he can purchase and mend his Armor from the Supply Box to mitigate more damage.
Save Often and Between Segments to Avoid Fatal Damage
Auto-Saves and Manual Saves Will Ensure Faster Progress When in Doubt
Typewriters will be your best friend from now on, since Green Herbs and Med Injectors are rendered pointless and challenge-ruining, and it’s inevitable that you’re going to take a few hits across the boss battles and combat-heavy areas. Therefore, making plenty of save files so you won’t have to repeat the same mistake multiple times will be game-changing.
Every time you complete a segment of a puzzle or kill a few enemies, it’s a good idea to make your way to a save station just so you don’t have to repeat the process every time you get killed, which might happen a lot, considering you’re playing through the entire game without a single node of healing back to full health.

Aim for the Legs to Move Enemies Out of the Way
Running is the Best Option for Most Encounters
Like we said before, pairing this challenge with Speed Demon goes hand in hand, specifically because you won’t want to waste time and bullets on enemies that are just going to get back up anyway. Most zombies around the Care Center will get back up, even if you think they’re dead, and worst of all, is that they might even mutate into something far deadlier.
To help with the challenge, your best bet is to aim for the legs. When Grace shoots a zombie in the leg, it will fall down, and you have a prompt that allows you to push it to immobilize the zombie temporarily. This really helps, as being able to save ammo, move zombies out of the way, and avoid being bitten can ensure faster completion times and safer routes.
Do a Second Playthrough to Get Special Content Like the Kotetsu
The Kotetsu is an Infinite Knife for Grace That Allows Her to Counter Grabs
Special Content unlocks after your first completion of the main story, which is why this challenge should be reserved for your second and third experience. There’s plenty of useful content to unlock, like infinite ammo, but since it’s costly, it’s likely that you’re doing this challenge to unlock that cheat in the first place.
As such, you should invest in the Kotetsu, a knife for Grace that’s grabbed from the Supply Box in the Guard Station, and has infinite durability. It can be used to stab zombies before they grab and bite Grace, but you will need to pick it back up from them after use. However, it can really help when you’re overwhelmed and about to have a chunk of health bitten out of you.
Use Blood & Credits on Ammo to Keep Enemies Contained
Why Craft Healing Items You Can’t Use When Ammo is Right There?
Grace can get ammo from scavenging and by crafting them after discovering the recipes. Infected Blood and Scrap are essential for Grace, as she’s going to want as much ammo as she can get so she can move enemies out of the way. Another priority should be Requiem Bullets, as these can one-shot most enemies like the chef, singing zombies, Chunk, and the Girl, which means less risk of getting injured.
For Leon, he won’t need Infected Blood to carry him on his more adventure-filled combat experience. Instead, kills will offer Credits that can be spent at the Supply Box. Always purchase ammo and upgrades to your favorite weapons, as Leon is going to be encountering more enemies, and even a few with guns, so it’s essential to stay stocked up on ammo.
