The Treasures of Time: Act III update has introduced a new questline for Jafar in Gameloft’s beloved Disney Dreamlight Valley. Players can now finally unlock the Aladdin antagonist as a villager and use his experience to solve the mysteries of the magical valley.
Like other characters, Jafar comes with his own set of friendship quests. But of course, before saviors can start these, they’ll need to unlock him by completing a series of long and challenging quests. Below, this guide will walk you through each quest to help you unlock Jafar in Disney Dreamlight Valley.
How To Unlock Jafar In Dreamlight Valley (Overview)
To unlock Jafar in DDV, Dreamers will have to complete the following story quests of Act III:
- Mysterious Micky
- Use Your Imagination
- The Palace of Time
- Jafar’s Laboratory
- The Now and Then
- The Lesser Evil
Make sure you have unlocked all A Rift in Time’s Act I and
Act II characters
before starting the aforementioned quests.
Complete The Mysterious Mickey Quest
Jafar’s first story quest begins when you enter Eternity Isle after the latest update. You’ll see a cutscene where five rifts open, and Mickey flickers between the past and present. Talk to Merlin, who will explain that Jafar’s magic has caused these time rifts. To stop Jafar, follow Merlin to a secret entrance to his palace in The Promenade of the Wild Tangle — but you’ll find a giant rift blocking your way.
This massive rift is connected to all the other time rifts on the Isle. To close these rifts, talk to Mickey, EVE, Rapunzel, and Gaston for help.
Complete The Use Your Imagination Quests
Once the four Isle buddies are set to help you, you’ll have to do their respective Use Your Imagination side quests. In these quests, your friends will imagine something creative that you’ll craft to toss into the rifts to finish them off.
First, talk to Mickey Mouse and follow him to The Courtyard biome, where you will see a big rift. To end it, you will have to make a Hot Dog Cart using eight Brass Ingots and eight Bronze Ingots. After the cart is ready, make a Toon Dog and toss it into the rift with Mickey Mouse. Here’s a quick Toon Dog recipe:
- 2 x Venison
- 2 x Poultry
- 2 x Pork
- 2 x Wheat
- 2 x Toon Sauce
To close the second rift in the Ancient Ruins, speak with EVE and WALL-E. They come up with the idea of making a movie. With WALL-E’s projector in your backpack, snap three pictures of these two robot lovebirds: one in the Ancient Ruins, one at WALL-E’s House, and one at EVE’s House. Then, craft a Film Reel using eight Plastic Scraps and three Mechanical Parts. Hand it over to EVE so the cute robot can throw it into the rift.
For your next quest, go to Rapunzel, who will ask you to create a Floating Lantern to end the time rift on Sundial Island. At a crafting station, combine 25 Tropical Wood, 10 Bamboo, and three Rope to make the lantern. Then, the player will need to ask deepest wishes from Mickey, Gaston, Oswald, and EVE for Rapunzel to write on the lantern and toss it into the rift together.
Lastly, meet Gaston to close the rift in The Wastes. With Oswald’s help, Gaston will suggest making a bottle ship. Gamers will have to get their hands on 20 Softwood and 8 Glass to craft this ship, then throw it into the rift.
Complete The Palace Of Time Quest
After closing all the rifts and making your way to Jafar’s palace, the next story quest will begin. Go to The Promenade in the Wild Tangle and enter Jafar’s Argabah palace. Inside, repair the bridge by interacting with a giant hourglass, cross it, and use your Hourglass tool to remove magical obstacles. Then, activate the big hourglass on the other side to open a magical door. The palace is full of tricky puzzles, but that’s to be expected when dealing with Jafar.
Once players are inside this door, they will need to clear the obstacles to reach a large puzzle room. To solve the puzzle, interact with the massive hourglass, move the white ground plates, and rotate the mirror to align with the second magical door. After turning the hourglass, a mysterious door will open. This will lead the player to Jafar’s grand palace, but his throne room will be locked. For more help, you can check out our detailed guide on the Palace of Time quest.
Complete Jafar’s Laboratory Quest
Jafar’s Laboratory is a side quest unlocked during The Palace of Time quest where you need to find a key to access his throne. First, climb the left staircase to reach his lab. Once there, players will need to interact with the black raven in order to get a clue about the key. The raven will ask you to feed it in exchange for help.
To make Bird Food, pick up a Rotten Fish and Rotten Clam from a nearby table. Then, interact with a giant hourglass to shift time and get Ripe Carrots and Tomatoes from the same table. Once you prepare the meal and feed the raven, it will give you a Power Coil. Place the coil in the puzzle’s socket, move the ground plates, and rotate the mirror to open a secret door. Next, take the key and unlock the palace gate.
Complete The Now And Then Quest
The Now and Then quest in DDV begins once you unlock the gate. Before reaching his throne, a massive rift will take you to a Black and White world where you’ll meet Mickey. He will ask you to find the following items in this colorless world:
- WALL-E’s Film Projector
- Mickey’s Hot Dog Roaster
- Rapunzel’s Lantern
- Gaston’s Ship

Dreamers can find WALL-E’s Film Projector near where Mickey is standing. For Mickey’s Hot Dog Roaster, dig behind a large rock on the hill. After that, break the rocks on the beach to get Rapunzel’s Lantern. Finally, to get your hands on Gaston’s Ship, fish out a Chest Key from the water, clear the rock obstacles at the cave entrance on the beach, and then open the chest.
Once players manages to escape the black and white world and return to the palace, they will meet Jafar and trap him in a genie lamp. After that, chat with Mickey and Merlin, and share the Spark with friends outside the palace.
Complete The Lesser Evil Quest
In Jafar’s final story quest, you’ll team up with him to end a strange geometric magic on Eternity Isle. First, talk to Oswald about the 2D cactus you saw in The Plains. He’ll explain that his experiment caused this problem. You’ll need to collect these objects from the Isle:
- 1 x Geometrically Impaired Cactus (The Plains)
- 1 x Geometrically Impaired Tree (The Grasslands)
- 1 x Geometrically Impaired Statue (The Docks)
Once you’ve got all the items, take them to Merlin. He’ll ask you to grab Jafar’s Research Notes from his palace. Your next step is to go to Jafar’s Laboratory and pick up those notes on the floor. Then, head back to Merlin with the notes, and he’ll tell you to free Jafar so you can discuss this weird magic with him.
Now, players should head to the Caves of Wonder, put the lamp in the arms of the Statue of Time, and use the Royal Hourglass to free Jafar from the lamp. Once he’s out, talk to him to complete The Lesser Evil quest and unlock him as a villager in the valley.
